What Is Shikilux — A Mirror for Self-Understanding

Shikilux (式譜 × Lux) is a religion-neutral self-understanding framework that integrates major Japanese divinatory traditions (Four Pillars of Destiny, Six Star Astrology, Sanmei-gaku, Sukuyo) with Western divinatory traditions (astrology, tarot, numerology) across four axes: essence, cycle, relationship, and guidance. This article is a first-time introduction: what Shikilux is, why it is a mirror rather than an oracle, and how it differs from other divinatory and personality tools.

From Shikilux Editorial This article is written and reviewed by Shikilux Editorial, last updated on 2026-05-12. Through Shikilux Editorial’s collective stewardship, annual reviews and user feedback are continuously folded into the framework.

1. Why Redesign Divination?

Divination has served across cultures and centuries as a tool for easing anxiety. At the same time, modern usage has exposed structural risks: dependency, relational exploitation, discriminatory framings. Shikilux begins from these concerns.

  • “Win-them-back divination” and “fear-driven monetization” tend to erode dignity and self-determination
  • Yet divination’s function as a mirror that allows objective self-view retains genuine value
  • Bridging the cultural context of divination with the language of modern psychology and ethics may allow divination to function again as a sound self-understanding tool

Shikilux therefore chose neither to discard divination nor to defend it uncritically, but to redesign it to withstand twenty-first-century ethical standards.

2. The Four Axes

At the center of Shikilux is a four-axis model. A person is not described by one type alone but as the superposition of four axes.

AxisRoleCore question
EssenceInnate character, talent, growth themes”What kind of person are you?”
CycleAnnual fortune, life cycle”What season are you in?”
RelationCompatibility, interpersonal patterns”How do you relate to this person?”
GuidanceDecision-making, action recommendations”What should you do now?”

What a single axis cannot capture, the combination of four axes can. That multidimensional view is Shikilux’s signature.

3. The “Mirror, Not Oracle” Design Stance

Shikilux explicitly relinquishes divination’s claim to predict the future.

  • “Shikilux does not predict your future” — stated explicitly in the official FAQ
  • All information offered is framed as tendencies, navigational hints, or vocabulary for self-understanding
  • For major decisions (career, marriage, treatment, investment), Shikilux directs users to dialogue with qualified professionals

This is not timidity but a design philosophy. Speaking the future as a fixed prediction strips agency and invites anxiety-driven monetization. Shikilux assumes responsibility only as a mirror — what one does after looking is reserved for the individual’s free will.

4. Sixty Types × Twelve Phases

Shikilux operates at a granularity of 60 types on the essence axis and 12 phases on the cycle axis. The resolution was chosen to be “finer than 16 types, more legible than 84 Chinese-calendar combinations.”

  • 60 types → each type carries multiple facets and resists stereotyping
  • 12 phases → understandable through seasonal metaphor (seed, sprout, bloom, harvest, undercurrent, return), conveying the essence of a phase intuitively

The combinations are 60 × 12 = 720. The same “Water Explorer” lives differently in the Seed phase than in the Bloom phase, and that difference is exactly what Shikilux makes visible.

5. Complete Secrecy — Why?

Shikilux’s calculation formulas, parameters, and five-dimension profile logic are withheld in full as trade secrets. Three reasons:

  1. Reverse-engineering resistance: disclosure would invite degraded copies and undermine the maintenance of quality and ethical standards
  2. Anti-anxiety-driven monetization: a public formula leads to “score-gaming divination” and turns a mirror into a metrics competition
  3. Room for continuous improvement: Editorial-led annual updates require flexibility that public disclosure would constrain

What is public is the conceptual model of the four axes, the names of the 60 types and 12 phases, the ethics charter, academic citations, and the final output text. The white paper publishes concepts and ethical grounding in depth.

6. The Collective Persona: Shikilux Editorial

Shikilux is operated not by a founder’s individual authority but by a collective persona.

  • Brand name: Shikilux Editorial
  • Functions simultaneously as pen name and stewardship entity
  • Avoids personalizing or charismatizing the founder, so quality and ethics can persist across successors
  • Annual reviews, community feedback, and incorporation of new academic references are Editorial’s responsibility

For “collectively edited self-understanding tool” rather than “individual fortune-teller’s prediction,” this stewardship form is essential rather than incidental.

7. A Path for Newcomers

For first-time visitors, this reading order works well.

  1. Shikilux brand concept — philosophy, ethics, stewardship
  2. Philosophical positioning of the four axes — roles of essence, cycle, relation, guidance
  3. All 60 types — browse the essence axis (start with whichever type catches your eye)
  4. All 12 phases — map the cycle axis
  5. Diagnostic page — confirm your own type and phase

8. The Road Ahead

Shikilux v3.1 has been redesigned around complete secrecy, the three-pillar personal report strategy, and Tier 1 six-country reach. Forthcoming work includes:

  • Release of Personal Reports (PDF)
  • KDP e-book series (yearly almanacs by type)
  • Phased release of cultural derivatives (Charisms / Akhlāq)
  • Six-language support (Japanese / English plus Mandarin, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Indonesian)

Questions and feedback are welcome via the about page. What can be folded into the annual review will be incorporated.

Summary

Shikilux is not divination discarded nor divination uncritically defended; it is a mirror redesigned to withstand twenty-first-century ethical standards. The four-axis resolution (essence, cycle, relation, guidance), the 60×12 granularity, the Mirror-Not-Oracle stance, and the Shikilux Editorial collective persona are mutually reinforcing design choices, all aimed at one outcome: a self-understanding tool that becomes a starting point for dialogue rather than a binding prediction.
